Doing a quick writeup since its been a while. I am going to bring together a few key insights for this weeks draftkings tournaments, for those looking to get an edge on the field. Remember this is GPP so if youre not first, youre -> somewhere else.
Odds and Situations
My typical scatterplot mixed with result tables beneath it. Look at the name column to understand the situation (upside, value, Leverage, etc). However I will focus on the scatterplot.
Note that I put odds over salary so the highest plays have the best success odds while the farther right plays are also the most expensive. Therefore above the trendline is considered a value.
Scottie is going to always have the top odds this year when he is playing. The question we must ask is whether or not we join the field or try and pivot from it based on his price and ownership. Both are high, but as we saw last week, he can win by several strokes and make the fade difficult. Interestingly his upside calculated isnt far off the other players so there is opportunity to pivot from him. The 9 and 10K range all look viable for pivots on the ownership if you think his final score doesnt blow away the field like last week.
Underowned Potential Plays
I circled the names of a few players that could pan out. I will have a minimum of 2 of these guys but maybe up to 4 in my lineups because naturally this is how to get contrarian with high odds and leverage.
Core Plays with Leverage
These names stand out as crossing all the boxes of players who can do well. Fleetwood, Hadwin, Conners and Hovland all cross both charts so theres that. Still, we may wanna get an idea of some guys that fit the course.
Course Fits (datagolf)
One thing that stands out here is that Driving Accuracy is much more important than Driving distance and good putting. Good approach game is also welcome. This course is one of the top 5 toughest for approach shots inside of 150 yards. I'm not entirely sure theres a way to avoid those, but I'd probably prioritize guys with a strong approach game right now.
2024 Performance - Sorted by Approach
Looking at the strongest approach players here (strokes gained) and Lowry sorta stands out here a bit. He also has good history here.
Other Leverage
If you wanted to see the cleaner list of those players with leverage, here you go! Good luck.
